Team Canada Wheelchair Basketball Undefeated At the Toronto 2015 Parapan Am Games

September 10, 2015

Congratulations to Team Canada! Our women’s wheelchair basketball team is undefeated in the tournament and most recently beat Mexico yesterday afternoon. The victory ensured Team Canada will appear at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Their first game of the tournament featured Guatemala. Team Canada overwhelmed their opponents, winning the game with a staggering 78-18. This was the largest point spread seen at the Parapan Am Games since 2007.

The mens team has fared well, also. They scored more points in their game against Team Venezuela than they’ve scored in nearly a decade, finishing their game 102-27. They’ll be playing Mexico today - wish them luck!

You can watch wheelchair basketball and cheer on our three athletes (Bo Hedges, Deion Green and Janet McLachlan) live on CBC.
