Successful Breakers Festival Weekend

February 15, 2017

BCWBS and BC Breakers hosted an annual BC Breakers Festival in Victoria, with the support of the Victoria Wheelchair Sports club. The event was held in conjunction with Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) women’s basketball champions at the University of Victoria on March 11 & 12.

The festival had a tournament component and a camp component in the same venue. Four teams including BC Breakers, Calgary Rollers, Edmonton Inferno, and Seattle Storm competed in the tournament; and 11 development players from Victoria, Pender Island, Lower Mainland, and Prince George enjoyed working on various skills in the camp that was led by Coach Tim Frick and Simon Cass.

Some of the athletes also did a half-time demo during the semi-final game of the CIS championships Saturday night to showcase our game and enjoyed watching their exciting games afterwards.

Big thanks go to the Victoria Wheelchair Sports Club for organizing this event with BCWBS and volunteers who scorekept and helped with the camp over the weekend!
