For the second consecutive year, the Scarborough Tigers won the CWBL National Championship, Division 1.
On May 15th, the Tigers defeated the Gladiateurs de Laval (GLADS) 69-62 at the Richmond Olympic Oval to win gold. The game was a rematch of the 2022 gold medal game, which Scarborough won 70-57 in Montreal.
Before 2022, the GLADS won three consecutive national championships.Tournament all-star Jesse McNalley scored a game-high 31 points and 13 rebounds. MVP Bo Hedges added 16 points and eight rebounds, while Ben Hagkull scored 14 points in the win.
“It was a cool tournament. It was fun to be here with this group. To win two in a row is pretty special,” said Hedges, a native of Wonowon, B.C. “I’ve been a part of a lot of finals, so it’s nice to get another win. It’s a great group. We had a lot of fun.
