Four BCWBS Members Named to Senior National Teams

January 17, 2014

BCWBS congratulates the four BC wheelchair basketball athletes selected to represent Team Canada this year. Amanda Yan (Burnaby, BC) and Janet McLachlan (North Vancouver, BC) were named to the women's national team and Bo Hedges (Wonowon, BC), and Deion Green (Victoria, BC) were named to the men's national team.

Amanda and Janet will be competing at the 2014 Women's Wheelchair Basketball World Championships, which will be held in Toronto in June. This will be Amanda's first major event since being named to the team last year. Janet has been on the team since 2008 and won bronze at the 2010 World Wheelchair Basketball Championships.

A special congratulations goes out to Deion Green, who made the national team for the first time. Deion was first introduced to wheelchair basketball as a junior through Victoria Wheelchair Sports Association. He's long been a staple of the Victoria club team and was a key player for BC at the 2011 Canada Winter Games. Recently, Deion moved to Toronto to take part in the Wheelchair Basketball Academy under the guidance of Coach Mike Frogley.
