BC Wheelchair Basketball Society receives funding from 2018 Parasport Jumpstart Fund

October 5, 2018

BCWBS is excited to announce new funding from the 2018 Parasport Jumpstart Fund.

We will be one of several communities receiving a boost towards our efforts to offer accessible and affordable sport for children and youth with disabilties.  The Parasport Jumpstart Fund aims to remove barriers for children and youth with disabilties to participare in physical activity or sport.

With the additional funding, BCWBS will work to enhance programming in the Fraser Valley, in partnership with Pacific Sport Fraser Valley, the City of Langley and the Langley School District.  Funding will be used to purchase additional sport wheelchairs that will be used in the PacSport Explore Sport Camps, in-school and after-school programs and for additional communtity events.  With the goal of increasing our accessible and affordable sport programs for youth and children with disabilities, this funding will help us achieve that and assist us with recruitment of new members for the BCWBS Fraser Valley wheelchair sports club.

Thank you to the Canadian Paralympic Committee and Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities for selecting us for this grant.
