BC Wheelchair Basketball Society Congratulates Marni Abbott-Peter on her Induction into the Canadian Paralympic Committee Hall of Fame

(Vancouver, BC—Oct. 13, 2015) BC Wheelchair Basketball Society congratulates Marni Abbott-Peter on her induction into the Canadian Paralympic Committee Hall of Fame.

Abbott-Peter led Canada’s national women’s wheelchair basketball team to three Paralympic gold medals and a Paralympic bronze. The team also won three consecutive world titles and had a 43-game winning streak in world championship and Paralympic Games play. Today, Abbott-Peter is a coach and mentor of young athletes and has recently been named the Director of the Let’s Play Program.

“Marni has had such a deep impact on wheelchair basketball in BC for the past several decades,” said BCWBS Executive Director Sian Blyth. “From the youngest Let’s Play participants to our elite athletes, Marni has made a difference at every level.”

The Canadian Paralympic Committee Hall of Fame induction ceremony and celebration dinner is set for Friday, Nov. 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the Shaw Centre in Ottawa.
