BC-CWBL Division I Games Continue

January 12, 2011

Division I continued with games January 8th and 9th at Douglas College. The Douglas College Royals and Lions played two highly competitive games highlighted by some great team play by both teams. In the first game, the Lions came out pressing hard and creating many scoring opportunities. The Royals then responded by playing three excellent quarters of basketball, but the deficit was too much to overcome.

Sunday’s game continued to see some of the younger Division I participants improve under the mentorship of past and present national team players. A number of players are starting to contribute more and more to the success of their teams. Because of this, both teams will be stronger at CWBL finals. The Royals continued their improvement from Saturday and at half-time the game was extremely close. The second half however saw the Lions play some of their best basketball of the year to slowly pull away for victory.

We are sure both teams are looking forward to the first weekend in February when they get to participate against the CWBL team from Calgary. Thanks go out to all the high performance athletes and family volunteers who assisted in score keeping and video taping these games. It is much appreciated.
