5th Annual Kelowna Jam Offered Another Fun Filled Weekend

May 16, 2013

The 5th Annual Wheelchair basketball Jam in Kelowna was a big success again. Participants came from Seattle, Spokane, Calgary, Vancouver, Chilliwack, Kamloops, Vernon and Kelowna. Every participant was schedule to play every game, rotating through different team members. Some of the junior members learned veteran tricks from the likes of Richard Peters, Bryan Shore and Marni Abbott-Peter.

A lunchtime BBQ was enjoyed outside the school in the warm Okanagan sun. Joe was not present but put $20 in to the sunglasses draw and for the first time in three years didn’t win!

Many got together for a few poker games in the hospitality suite at night. Martin and Gerry shared some excellent action shots from the day’s activity. (Check out photos by Gerry Kripps here.)

Sunday highlighted a Calgary vs. Okanagan game and Calgary won. The quick 20 minute games in the Jambalaya competition was won by the team of Alec, Ben, Jami, Joel, Kevin, Matt G., Mcgregor and Riley. Congratulations to those who had great win(s) and everyone who brought sportsmanship and friendship through the game over the weekend!

See you all and more next year!

BCWBS would like to thank Okanagan Thunder and People In Motion for hosting this great event!
