BC Wheelchair Basketball has updated our Return to Sport plan as of March 11, 2022.
In order to align with the Government of BC’s guidelines and incorporating the PHO order and BC Vaccine Card requirements BCWBS will be implementing the following policy:
All people, age 12 and upwards who are eligible to be vaccinated and who are taking part in BCWBS programs/events and BCWBS club programs/practices – must show proof of vaccination before taking part in these programs/events and practices.
This includes participants, athletes, coaches, staff, officials, and volunteers.
BCWBS policy requires all parents and spectators to wear a mask at all times in the gymnasium, be advised that facilities may enforce their own requirements above and beyond BCWBS policy.
Wearing a mask, while not required when exercising and playing wheelchair basketball, it is highly recommended in order to keep everyone (including staff and their families) as safe as possible.
Masks continue to be required to be worn when not on the court.
Thank you for your continued dedication to safe programs.
Proof of compliance via the BC Vaccine Card is mandatory.

The following principles were followed when the BCWBS Return to Play committee considered this decision:
* Our duty of care to provide our membership with a safe environment to participate in,
* Alignment with the PHO priorities - to increase vaccinations,
* Our desire to continue to deliver our programs,
* Being consistent with ‘other similar’ organizations in the sport sector who are creating like-minded polices
* To add another layer of safety above and beyond the PHO order
We have endeavored to make the recording of this information as streamlined as possible for all, especially the Club leaders. We will also be circulating and publishing the amended RTP polices.
We know this may have some challenges for some of our members and participants and will discuss these on an individual basis.
