BCWBS Thanks Marni Abbott-Peter

July 13, 2015

BC Wheelchair Basketball Society thanks Marni Abbott-Peter for her excellent work as our Regional High Performance and Development Coach. During her tenure, Marni led the BC Breakers to their first-ever Canadian Women's Wheelchair Basketball Championships title on home soil, put together a fine group of young athletes to represent Team BC at the 2014 Canada Winter Games in Prince George and made huge strides with the Let's Play program, among many other accomplishments. The wheelchair sport system in BC -- and in Canada -- is greater for her involvement, and we will undoubtably see the results of her efforts come to even fuller fruition in the years to come as the junior athletes she mentored graduate to the international stage.

"On the court, Marni brought her decades of experience as a Paralympian and elite coach into her role," said BCWBS Executive Director Sian Blyth. "Off the court, the compassion and genuine care she showed for her athletes will impact their lives for years to come. We were very lucky to have Marni as our Regional High Performance and Development Coach, and we're grateful for the work she has done."

Marni will be stepping down from her position as high-performance director but will be continuing with BCWBS to work on the development of the Let's Play Program.
