What are the BC Winter Games?
Since 1978, the BC Games Society has been staging the BC Summer and Winter Games which are two of the largest multi-sport Games in BC and in Canada, bringing together young developing athletes from every region of the province.
The purpose of these Games is "To provide an opportunity for the development of athletes, coaches and officials in preparation for higher levels of competition in a multi- sport event which promotes interest and participation in sport and sporting activities, individual achievement and community development."
These Games give young, developing athletes the opportunity to improve their skills, while learning to deal with the excitement, triumphs and defeats of participating in a major multi-sport event and is a potential stepping stone to the Canada Winter Games. Wheelchair basketball is just one of many sports participating in these Games.
Who organizes the Games?
The BC Games Society works in conjunction with the host community of Greater Vernon to arrange the Games. BC Wheelchair Basketball Society facilitates the tournament organization and preparation of athletes and assists with the selection and registration of coaches, athletes, and officials through zone reps.
