2012 National Wheelchair Basketball Championships for Men and Women
BC Wheelchair Basketball and Wheelchair Basketball Canada are hosting the 2012 Men's Wheelchair Basketball National Championships and Women's CWBL Finals 2012 at the Richmond Olympic Oval on May 18-20.

Event Info: The annual National Wheelchair Basketball Championships plays host to Canada's best wheelchair basketball players over three days of exciting action. Many of theses athletes have their sights set on making it to the 2012 Paralympic Games in London with Team Canada.
Celebrating Difference Makers and the 25th Anniversary of the Man in Motion World Tour: Rick Hansen, one of the founding directors of the BC Wheelchair Basketball Society and past participants, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Man in Motion World Tour which culminates in the Lower Mainland of BC May 19-22nd, 2012. As Rick visits each city from his original tour on the exact same tour dates of 25 years ago he is scheduled to celebrate his tour stop in Richmond May 20th, the date of our final championship game day at the Richmond Olympic Oval. BCWBS is hosting this national event and celebrating "Difference Makers" throughout the weekend to commemorate Ricks original tour as a unique gesture to show our appreciation of his support of wheelchair basketball over the years.

As day 271 of the Rick Hansen 25th Anniversary Relay draws to a close in Richmond, B.C, we would encourage you, along with your family and friends to join us for this cheerful community celebration featuring amazing local culture and entertainment prior to the exciting arrival of Richmonds final medal-bearer of the day! In addition to our exciting live entertainment on stage, we will be featuring displays from our community partners and interactive demonstrations Join us for our End of Day Celebration and help welcome the Rick Hansen Relay to Richmond! - By City of Richmond
Team BC: The BC Men are the five-time defending National Champions and will look to match a team record of six consecutive championships established in 1978-1983. They are the most successful team in tournament historywith 21 victories. The BC Breakers Women Team won the national title in 2010 and are looking to bring the gold medal back with two national team athletes leading the team this year.
