Hoopfest is an
exciting wheelchair basketball tournament held annually since 1994
to raise funds in support of wheelchair basketball programs in British
Columbia. A variety of corporate and community organizations such
as the fire fighters and community service clubs participate in
this event. Join BCWBS for an opportunity to play basketball sitting
down! We'll supply the wheelchairs - you just come and have some
fun!
A Fun Community-Based Fundraiser
- Hoopfest is a fun and unique one-day fundraiser
hosted by the BC Wheelchair Basketball Society since 1994.
- Wheelchairs are provided for the teams, made up of a maximum
of ten people, who participate in a round robin tournament finishing
with the top two teams in a play-off game.
- A variety of corporate and community organizations such as
the fire fighters, local media groups, and community service clubs
participate in this event.
- Selected provincial and national wheelchair basketball players
coach each team, provide instruction on how to use a wheelchair,
and how to play the game of wheelchair basketball.
- The day also includes a demonstration of wheelchair basketball
by BCWBS players and a fantastic silent auction.
